Overall: 8.7/10
Story 8.5/10
Superman, in its latest iteration, is the story of the hero discovering his humanity as he’s pitted against a villainous human, who might not have any left.
James Gunn may have outdone himself with this one. At a time when it's cool to go grim and to seethe, Gunn creates a Superman that's bright and upbeat. And he's unapologetic.
Gone are the deep dark colors. With them, go the gloomy tone. There's no brooding Superman in this version.
The pacing is very uptempo, even in scenes with a lot of dialogue. And none of the dialogue is wasted. It either pushes plot or reveals character.

Character 8.9/10
David Corenswet/Superman/Clark Kent
Clark initially strives to follow his parents directive. He never knew them. But he’s trying to be the person that he thinks they would’ve wanted him to be. At the end of the day, he has to come to the realization that the choices he makes are his own. And those choices determine what kind of hero he is.
Rachel Brosnahan/Lois Lane
Lois is a hard hitting investigative reporter, even to the detriment of her relationship. Her world view is much different than Superman’s. She will always question power, even if that power is the Man of Steel's.
Skyler Gisondo/Jimmy Olsen
Jimmy is a bit more of a lady’s man in this one. And unlike the depictions of him in the past, he’s not just a side kick. He seems like a capable and fully realized character. He makes very meaningful contributions to the team.
Nicholas Hault/Lex Luthor
As always, he is as evil as he is brilliant. And his brilliance is only overshadowed by the size of his ego. His jealousy towards Superman knows no bounds. Luthor would rather hate superman for revealing Luthor’s human frailty than try to be better—try to do better.

Final Thoughts
The story, character and pacing, even the colors come together to create the perfect tone for the movie. James Gunn's Superman might truly be the greatest Superman movie ever.
